How can i make my exhaust have more "rumble" on a 2.8L v6 88 firebird?

I have an 88 firebird 2.8L v6. how do i make it sound like a v8 with some rumble? ive been told to put headers on it, hollow out the cat, and put better mufflers on it. what does hollowing out the cat mean?
