Why is there going to be a new "Knight Rider" series?

Seriously! I know that it was a major hit during the 80s, but it's already had its day. Not only that, but the role of Michael Knight pretty much BELONGS to David Helhoff. I wasn't even really a fan of the show when it first aired, but I still think it's obvious that no matter who plays the main character in the new series, the character of Michael Knight will ALWAYS be ociated with David Helhoff. And for pity's sake, Kit isn't even being played by the same voice actor as in the original series, so it just isn't the same! And ditto with "The Bionic Woman"! I know that the new version was recently cancelled, thanks to the writers' strike, but we all know that the title character pretty much belongs to Lindsay Wagner!
